After I told brother Matt about the May 7-11 FFT he immediately went into action - he started his own lure company. He's been testing them off Chandaleur and Pascagoula near Louisiana.
Specs: these are 2-3 ounce chunking or trolling lures but Matt said no secrets allowed. About 5-6 inches long in diving or jig head configs.
Name: "The Deadeye." I tried to get him to name it after our parent's winter cay where they have a cottage, but Matt said no to "Deadeye Dickies." Said we had to be serious or somethang.

Sammie. I'll have to remember to show those to Rick. They look good to me!
You have a piano that drinks? Sounds like a perfect act on America's Got Talent! Can you imagine David Hasselhoff judging that:eek: !

Those will definately work, Sammie, as they have a replaceable skirt. I brought back a sack of jigheads that were pretty much one fish use. Saltwater toothy critters mangle them up fairly good, so I had to purchase high$$$ Maribou jigs there. I'll be better prepared next time!
Chuck,
I make all the jigs we all use, and most of our trolling lures as well.
They are about indestructible to deal with all the Cudas, and Wahoo in our neck of the woods.
When they have had enough - I paint them back up, re-skirt them and we are ready to go.
Anything you need I can have to you in a flash - any time.

LOL, CR has a "pinkie" too! Anyway, sounds like great fun as a hobby and I figured that if you got some basic supplies, you could make lures fairly cheap. Matt says he's having fun, maybe giving some away or five bucks for people he doesn't know - and just don't ask for a hundred! It's all about the fun, I guess ... waiting for clean water offshore after Dean got it all tussled up. Looking for some blue water for sure. Might have to send my buddy in a Cessna out in a few days to check, huh? Aw man, he needs the hours, anyway, why not?

Uh-oh, look what Brother Matt calls the pink one!
Sammy,
Those are Grouper killers for sure, I'm sure anyone could catch fish on those - might even change the odds on the Tournament.

Sammie,
They look good to me................might have to start messin with a modified Goose bomb, with a longer shank hook, a few inches less skirt (that's always good eh?), and a proper grub tail kinda like my flattie rig.
Shhhhh, don't tell anyone though. All I need is a sounder and some honey holes

Hmm, do most of those rental boats come with a bottom reader and fish finder? Funny, my redneck friend calls them "death finders." Gotta have a big pinch of snuff between the cheek and gum when ya say that ... :D

Rental boats come with them, they just cost extra--
Just ask for the glass bottom bucket.

Hey thanks, AbacoBrad, fine looking lures and fish there ... and I got hungry looking at your plate o' goodies. Poor old CR must a got the willies again and won't come outten his shell until he pours about two dozen more jig heads. Watch de fumes, bruddah! I got my bro on the phone after trying his yellow model, good color by the way, but was getting short strikes and they chewed up my skirts. So I asked about a second hook and he was like ... hem, haw, what-do-ya-mean? I said the macks, jacks, and cudda was a-tearing up the plastic skirts on my lure, NOT ME. "Oh" was all I got out of him. 'Bout like CR, wouldn't ya think? Tough crowd.

That's what I did, Sammie, added trailer-hooks, and it cut down on short strikes and chewed skirts.

I caught three fish on that same one Yellow Wingman. An Amberjack, the Tuna and a Yellow Tail. I gave the lure to Josh one of the ferry drivers to see if it brings him a bit of good luck. We did have a few chewed up while trolling but not jigging- they were the hookups!
It is a tough crowd Sammie.
