I saw the Subtropical Storm Olga formed of Puerto Rico and is sending some mighty wave swells over to the the eastern Bahamas. Predictions are 3-4 meters, with one sea buoy (E. Bahama, #41046) reporting at 14 feet already. The NE Bahamas buoy (#41047, closer to the Abaco banks) is rising to over 8 feet in just the last hour. Winds aren't helping, about 20 kts from the NE. Anybody have an ocean cam website to watch it?
Avast, furl the tops'l and batten down yer hatches, ye lubbers! /sammie

Sammie, such a bearer of glad tidings. At least it doesn't have a blanket of ice like here in the midwest! We've got my sister, bro.-in-law and their three to add to the merriment today, as they are without power due to downed lines.

Well that complex of storms started near Siberia, hammered Oregon, moved through LA, nailed Patti P's house in Colorado, and of course brought you lots of family fun, Half! The storm line now runs from North Texas to Michigan, and a fierce Northeaster off Maine is supposed to set up this weekend. They ought to give names to big storms like that, such as "Bad Dog."
You know them sunny, 80-degree beaches and those funny drinks with a paper umbrella in them? That's me right now! -sammie
Well, its not 80 here but close.

No wonder it's cold there. Look at the elevation, way up in the mountains at 30' !!! Need to take those temps below cloud level!
Hurt me, hurt me.

Half, Why did you say " brain farts come with wisdom, grasshopper". Now I know why I hardly ever have one;;;;; it takes wisdom ----- I'll have to work on that ---maybe go back to school, no at 63 I don't think that would help. O well I'm happy not having enough wisdom to have a fart.

Man you almost made me laugh so hard I cried. There was an old expression that went "Here's Sam and I think he's gong to cut loose on a big one."
That was supposed to mean I was playing some really fast boogie-woogie on the guitar, playing bass and lead as best as I could on a ragged old Spanish guitar that buzzed and squawked.
But why the hay do you think I was playing all those loud bass notes? :eek:
* * *
p.s., my heart goes out to the families of 23 folks that lost their lives in the recent snow and ice storm ...

That was in response to Pat's edit;)
