This time of year I have some really, really bad, I mean unspeakably bad eggnog. Bleachhh! Time to rectify things. Please chime in with your favorites!
Daddy's Eggnog
One big huge scoop of French vanilla ice cream
Sprinkles of cinnamon and nutmeg
Some really good bourbon, to taste

So you're basically pouring Bourbon over ice cream???
Not a problem.
We love Southern Comfort Egg Nog. Just add some spirits and its actually very good.

Yes, Sammie, the new prez makes the French practically family. I hear they're taking the rear-view mirrors out of their tanks, which was the only way they could watch a battle!
And we use Southern Comfort.

I was in the states 2 weeks ago and looked for some but never found it. Maybe they sell it in the liquor stores??? Tried to bring some back for Sidney but no luck. Maybe Santa will drop some off on our door step!!

Just got back from out favorite watering hole. We meet a big group of friends for WAC.... (Wednesday afternoon club)...
I love Yukon Jack during the Colorado winter, with a chaser of bluegrass....
As far as eggnog... don't do no liquid chickens......
I like mine with some Captain Morgan spiced rum and grated nutmeg on top.

You can substitute Captain Morgan for an "island" flair...
Jose Cuervo Cookies
1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
1 cup lemon juice
4 large eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups of dried fruit
1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequila
Sample 1 level cup of the Cuervo to check the quality. Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo again, to be sure it is still of the highest quality, pour another level cup and drink.
Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Remove butter paper wrapper from bowl.
Add one teaspoon of sugar..Beat again. At this point it's best to make sure the Cuervo is still OK, try another levelel cup ...just in case.
Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 eggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruits, Pick the frigging fruit off floor... Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver.&nbs p; Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity.
Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Who giveshz a sh**. Check the Jose Cuervo. Now shift the lemon juice and strain the nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or box of eggs or somefink. Whatever you can find. If there is any Juervo left, drop in batterer. Greash the oven.
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window, finish the Cose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher.

I haven't even started my normal Christmas baking, so I almost skipped the recipe (thinking I don't need another recipe I won't get to). So I'm thinking, what could Patti think was so funny about a cookie recipe? Wow, now I can throw all those other recipes OUT. Now I've got the only one I need for a Very Merry Christmas! Thanks Skippy!!

I remember as a Child Ma "Reta" my Great Grandmother from Cherokee, would make us Eggnog to aid in sleeping....It always involved 5 star Brandy.....I get tired just thinking about it...

It is Friday in the PM, and another storm is blowing down the mountain right now. The temp is dropping like a lead weight, and the sky just got really dark. Who said anything about baking? I think we just need to test the main ingredient!:D
I'm not even going to make the 6 foot trek out back to the hot tub.....

Well it's afternoon on the West Coast now, plus being a Friday, so I think it's OK to "bake" now!
Gosh Patti, just checked the Boulder Cam again - what happened? It looked beautiful earlier! 80% snow? I'd be building a fire, cookies in the oven, hot tub a-going, stew on the stove top ... hope you stocked up on the joy juice for all that nasty weather.

I have two recipes for eggnog, which I LOVE!
Danielle's Eggnog
(I never knew Danielle!)
1 dozen eggs
1.5 fifths rum
1 lb. sugar (2.25 cups)
1 quart milk
6 1/2 pints of whipping crean (3 pints)
Separate eggs, and save whites in fridge.
Beat yolks with the sugar thoroughly.
Add rum and stir.
Put mixture in fridge to settle and to let go of egg flavor.
Beat egg whites until fluffy.
Beat cream until fluffy.
Carefully stir cream and whites into the mixture.
Chill at least 3 hours.
Mix thoroughly before serving, and sprinkle with nutmeg.

Michael Harris Eggnog
(Michael is a Canadian author)
3 cups whole milk
7 large eggs
1 cup sugar
2 cups heavy cream
1/3 cup rum, preferably dark
1/3 cup brandy
1 teaspoon vanilla
freshly ground nutmeg
Take the milk, and bring to a boil in a saucepan.
Take the eggs and 1 cup of sugar and put in a large bowl. Mix, and add in the hot milk SLOWLY, whisking it, adding as slowly as when you add oil into eggs when making mayonnaise.
Cook on moderate heat, stirring constantly.
With an instant thermometer, bring to 170F, or cook about 6-7 minutes, until it is like a custard consistency.
Take the custard and push it through a fine sieve.
Pour into a large bowl, stir in cream, rum, brandy and vanilla.
Cool - bowl uncovered. Then cover and chill until cold.
You can drink it in three hours, but it is even better if you drink it the next day so the flavours can mellow.
