I will be in guana cay in late march and was debating whether or not to take some tackle. Is there any fishing to be done off the docks or from the surf?
I will have access to a boat but I don't think I can take it into the ocean, so that puts wahoo out of the picture:(
I fish virginia so I have no knowledge of what to expect or how to catch it, so any help will be appreciated! thanks

By all means if you have an inshore rod that is jointed so it's easy to pack, by all means toss a reel in the luggage and bring along the pole! It's a fisherman's dream there, pure heaven.
I'm going to hit the surf side at dawn, check out the flats on the western sides, and be sure to fish right off the dock ... fish love to hide right under the boats ... try free-lining with no weight and just let the bait flutter ... and HOLD ON.
Most folks troll the inside, or so it seems, but if the channels to the Atlantic are calm they can attract some of the bigger gamefish. Tilloo Cut and MOW Channel are fairly well known ... technically you are not offshore in the Atlantic but do be careful.
Suggestion: fish the first incoming tide (right after dead low tide) with a SE breeze. This will be safer, lower waves, and if the motor konks out your drift will be back to civilization and not southern Mozambique. -sammie
