We saw this bus the other day south of Ocala, Fl. We bought a couple for $2 a piece & they were great. The license tag was from Collier county, but I don't know wherem they were picked at.

When we were in GTC last summer, Sid's Grocers had a huge watermelon for sale. We asked how much --- $40!!!!! I am sure there was someone desperate enough for a taste of watermelon to fork that out, but needless to say, we waited until we got home to eat watermelon.

I haven't seen any local watermelons for sale yet, but this is usually about the time of year when you can get them from the back of a pickup in Marsh Harbour. A good one runs about $10.
Ya don't come to the Abacos for cheap local produce :)

Hi JJ,
$ 40 Yikes! You would have to be hankering big time. I was just crabbing about $ 8 in Publix.

One year we had a watermelon and had a seed spitting context in the side yard ... well after a few nice rains we had a watermelon jungle. Hey, one less reason to mow all the yard, right?
By the way, cantaloupes are even more fun ... I wonder if they'd work in a marg as well? Hmmmmm ...

RTime, can you share the watermelon marguarita recipe?
Sure, here it is:
2 1/2 cups watermelon (seedless, if possible) cut into 1 inch cubes
3 tablespoons fresh squeezed lime juice
4 oz tequila
2 oz orange flavored liquor
1 1/2 cups ice
Put watermelon in the freezer for a couple of hours. Put all ingredients in blender and puree till smooth. Rub rim of margarita glasses with wedge of lime and dip into salt and garnish with lime wedge.....ENJOY :D !!
If you do not have enough time to freeze the watermelon, use more ice.
You can double up and make a pitcher and keep the pitcher in the freezer.
These got us through Hurricane Francis and Jeanne a few years back!

It's listed in Norvell's "Trip Report - Crossing by Boat" post.
Here you go:
Make a double strength pitcher of Crystal Light lemondade. (Two quarts water with 2 packages), 6 -8 oz. vodka, half that amount of Triple sec.
tons of ice. Shake, pour. keep pitcher in fridge. Each martini will be really cold and continue to get diluted with the ice.
And the Crystal is sugar free and only has 5 cal. per serving.

Yeah, well what if I want a nekkid watermelon margarita WITH seeds, huh?
Just kidding ... my wife is on a diet thang now and asks for top-shelf vodka, club soda, and a splash of cran (cranberry juice). Not too bad. Not sure if that's a Cape Cod or not ...
