We just returned from the Lauderdale Boat Show where I was able to spend a little time talking with the people at the Cay Club about Walker's Cay. They told us that the deal is, in fact, still on, but that they are having "environmental issues" with the Bahamian government. In order to "make the concept work," they would need to extend the runway (I don't see how or where), and triple the size of the marina by extending it westward, entailing "extensive dredging."
I asked them directly, "Do you think the deal will get done?"
"Oh yes, we will break ground in no more than 12 months."
We'll see.

They say with confidence that "it'll get done" ? hehheh......I guess they know that all they have to do is get a "heads of agreement" signed and spread a few payof........er.....goodwill around eh? Well, if ya have to moderate this one or move it to the rant I'll understand.......just couldn't pass up the opportunity.......Ken

We were also at the Boat Show and looked at the layout of the new Chub Cay deluxe "resort" with great interest. Did you happen to see that?
What are your thoughts?

Norvell, we didn't specifically look at the Chub Cay display, but we were distressed by the number of booths touting new developments all over the Bahamas, and the entire Caribbean as well. Places that were desolate and distant are being turned into monstrosities, and it appears that local governments are encouraging them. Enjoy the boonies now, they are rapidly vanishing.:(

I don't believe anymore. I have finally given up waiting and bought a place in Treasure. 25 years at Walkers may have been enough. We really love Treasure so far.
