Mark and I have always stayed on Eastern Shore in Marsh Harbour...
but this spring we are staying on Guana.
We were obviously able to run into town whenever we needed anything in Marsh, so I need to tap into the wisdom of the forum for what to do once we arrive in MHH, and before we take the ferry to Guana. I thought it might be cumbersome to show up at the ferry with too much stuff.
I know Guana has a grocery and liquor store, although I am not sure where. We are familiar with Milo's, The Art Cafe, Donna Sands, and of course Nipper's from past day visits.
We will be staying at the other end of the island at "Coconut Tyme". It is located by Susan's Cove or Boat Harbour. I think this area goes by both names. We have reserved a golf cart too.
Any tips would be appreciated!
I drive my husband crazy because I start planning so far in advance, but just found out Vintage is already sold out for the day we needed from FLL to MHH!
Thanks,
Patti Puzo

To go to the Liquor store, turn left off the ferry dock and its on your right just before the Fig Tree. Come out of the Liquor store, go past Milo's, past the road to Nippers. Continue down the road past the church and towards the end of the Harbour area and the Guana Harbour grocery is on the left, a tan building.

Abacopeach, can't even get lost on guana :) It has been reported though that Abaco Skippy, while enjoying a cart ride, eating corned beef sandwich's with wife and friends, did indeed find two marina's at Orchid Bay  ;)

I wondered about the turn... I thought I was more confused that first thought....without the benefit of being rum induced;)

Patti, we always stay on one of the offshore cays, usually Elbow or Guana. We try to schedule the flight arrival about 1.2-2 hrs before the ferry leaves. We have the cabbie take us to Solomon's or Price-Right, and we load up on whatever groceries, etc., we need. We try to have the kids pack our stuff into boxes, then the cab tales us to the ferry dock, and we schlep the stuff right onto the ferry. Whoever we are staying with picks us up, and hauls us to our destination. People at the ferry dock are usually very accommodating. There has been some noise about additional charges for extra "baggage," but we've never been charged. We do some some light, or "day-to-day" shopping at the grocery stores on the cays, but we do the heavy stuff in Marsh Harbour.

We'll they are charging for extra "baggage". We had a small bag sent to us from MH and we had to pay $5.00 to the ferry captain. If you have lots of extras, they do charge and if they don't, good for you!!! :)

Thanks everyone. We will try and get in with time to shop for groceries at Solomon's, and liquor at Bristols. Otherwise, I guess we can just set up a night in MHH to stay prior to heading towards Guana.
