Now this kind of rant is all about Old Man Weather, and why he makes it so hard to enjoy the ocean in the winter and spring. I'm talking 20 to 30 knots from the southeast and then 20 to 30 from the northwest, and a rather persistent Easterly that sets up as well. Same thing here, seas 5 to 10 feet high, except the Gulf of Mexico has a short period chop that will pound your kidneys out your boongie.
All we can hope for is a half day, a whole day, or maybe on rare occasions two days when the winds go slack in between rages - meaning the raging sea. These have been rare of late, since it might be totally becalmed and still have 7 foot waves. It really takes about 18 hours for the seas to settle down a wee bit. Can't do much about it, other than hope 2009 is better than 2008 was. Gosh 2008 was terrible, and then the Sargassum weed came in, and then the hurricanes came in. And yes, I am optimistic - we have only one way to go and that is better!
