I had posted this on the other message board, but just in case you aren't switching back and forth, here it is.....
YAT Exciting News Flash Number 4
Since November 1st, all Yellow Air Taxi FLL scheduled and charter flights depart and arrive out of the Commuter Terminal, located at the lower level of Terminal 4. After 3 years of waiting for a counter, six months of planning, and 2 months of applying for security badging, we were very pleased to operate our inaugural flights!
We are very excited about the convenience this will provide passengers who are connecting from other cities. Terminal connection shuttles are available at the lower level.
I know that Sharon and other S Floridians will miss the ease and free parking of the Jet Center, but we promise to provide the same level of reliabilty and customer service that everyone has come to expect from Yellow Air Taxi.
Our gate phone numbers are the same: 954-359-3453 and 954-359-3573. If you need assistance with baggage as you pull up, please call and we can meet you at the car.
So, even though the airport gentlemen said no to big comfy chairs, we really look forward to bringing Yellow Air Taxi-style service to the Commuter Terminal. Those of you who have flown with us know what that is!!
Thanks!

Why can't one of the airlines just fly directly into Abaco? Not via FL?

Volume,cost efficiency and most importantly............PROFIT!
Beth:
Congratulations! :) This is really great for Yellow Air Taxi! You've always facilitated connections with the main terminal, but this will make it much easier, especially for late connectors!
I've got about 15 boxes of books and teaching materials to send over to Abaco for the Every Child Counts Special Education program. They are for them to use and to share with other schools. May I send them over via Yellow Air Taxi as we have before? They average about 30-35 pounds -- apologies. They don't need to go over at one time.
If this is OK -- I abuse your graciousness -- where do I take them now? Curbside has such tight security that I'm not sure I can "perch" there for the time it will take to transfer them. What do you suggest?
I really appreciate the support your company has provided the schools of Abaco. YAT is a real community- and child-minded organization in so many ways, in addition to be a reliable, class act in transporting folks over and pampering them. :)

Come 2030 when the new terminal is complete and a proper runway is installed, along with lighting and navigation electronics, the other airlines MIGHT let their expensive aircraft into MHH!!

Hey Chuck, I would think that the bridge would have to be completed by then too.... the Shiek won't like them giving him a run(way) for his money....:)

I can envision the bridge being completed first to truck materials in!

Sharon -
You are still asking if it is OK to ship books with YAT? I am very shocked that you would not EXPECT me to take the books for you!! You know how dedicated Chris, the YAT staff, and I to your wonderful effort. As always, we are happy to ship all of your books and educational materials for free.:)
To drop your boxes at the main terminal (without getting a ticket), this is what I do when I am dropping off parts for West Marine: As I drive into the airport entrance I call the gate at 954-359-3453 and let Orla or Larry know that I will be there shortly. This gives them time to get the cart. Then as I get to Terminal 4, I call again to let them know that I am almost there. Stop at the green airport sign with "Yellow Air Taxi" on it. Our counter is just inside. Larry or Orla should be waiting outside with the cart so you can drop off and be on your way!
Thanks so much for including us in your efforts. We are proud to be one of Every Child Counts supporters.

Beth,
You have been such a help to the Every Child Counts special education and literacy program. Yellow Air Taxi has taken tons of books over for the schools over the past few years. You know that getting materials to the schools is one of the biggest worries and you dissolve it time after time. And the thousands of dollars raised during Abaco race week with the lottery came to ECC at JUST the right time! What a blessing!
Orla has already emailed me about the arrangements you describe. A business is only as good as its staff and yours are a class act! I'm still gathering things -- amazing what teachers amass and how hard it is to sort through it nearing retirement! I'd like to say it is the memories, but actually -- every teacher will appreciate this -- it's looking at these things and thinking, "I can use this that way, for XXX! Must save it!" which got me in the packrat problem in the FIRST place! ;) Ah, once a teacher, always a teacher. :D
I've always suspected that you help ECC out so much because of your own precious children -- aware of what a challenge life would be if school posed a problem, but now I've come to know that you truly care about the communities you serve.
I'm delighted that "what goes around, comes around." You do good and good comes back at you! YAT is busting its buttons -- new move to the main terminal promises to be much more convenient for passengers changing airlines to get to Abaco!
But what's this I'm hearing? You need to confirm it b/c I can't believe my ears! YAT has a special fare of $78 weekdays and $89 weekends through the end of February? Can this really be true? I haven't heard of such a deal for years and years. Makes this old gal feel younger just hearing about it. :o I know die-hard Abaco lovers will jump at that! This time of the year is a wondrous one with the weather and goings on!
With deepest appreciation,

You have it pretty much right! Yellow AIr Taxi is having a "Yellow Hot Deal" for travel through 28 February. Prices are $79 each way for weekdays and $89 each way for weekends PLUS taxes and fees. Tickets are non-refundable and non-changeable.
So maybe you can go over for an extra teaching session !!!
Also, I have received other inquiries for sending books to other schools as well.
Yellow Air Taxi will ship books and educational supplies for free to any school in Marsh Harbour or Treasure Cay.
I would recommend, however, that you make arrangements with the school in advance to ensure that they have the stamp tax issue worked out with customs prior to shipment (it would defeat the purpose of your kind donation if the school got slammed with a hefty tax for used books). I would have them speak with Ms. Evelyn Major of Every Child Counts in MHH for suggestions on how that can be done.
If you do not have a particular school in mind, then of course I would recommend donating to ECC. They are changing lives and enhancing the community with very limited resources!
