Ginn Resorts today announced the signing of an agreement that puts the company in control of the resort operations, sales and development of Old Bahama Bay Resort & Yacht Harbour located at West End, Grand Bahama Island.

Old Bahama Bay is a 228-acre resort community featuring home sites, 73 luxury rooms and suites and a 63-slip marina. Resort amenities and services include: an oceanfront swimming pool, dockage at the state-of-the-art marina, fitness facility, casual and fine dining venues, spa services, complimentary water sports and snorkel trails. Ginn will also assume responsibility of the resort's 175 employees.

"The addition of Old Bahama Bay will add great value to the future development of Ginn sur Mer," said Bobby Ginn, President and CEO of Ginn Resorts. "This management agreement allows us to further deliver on our promise to create not only a worldclass resort destination, but a revived economy for the West End community."

That's what all the locals are calling it. The SVP of the project was on record the other day saying that about 15,000 folks will have homes/condos there in 10-15 years...15,000!

He went on to say that he anticipates a labor shortage of about 2,000 people during the next phase of construction starting late this year.

So, until your boat is about 200 ft long, and preferably with a helipad, don't plan on using West End for your crossings in the next few years.
