Thanks to all of you who purchased Yellow Air Taxi raffle tickets for the benefit of the Every Child Counts special education and literacy programme in Abaco which began twelve years ago by Mrs. Evelyn Major of Hopetown. As you know ECC provides educational services for children all over Abaco, Cooper's Town, Sandy Point, Green Turtle Cay, Hopetown, Treasure Cay -- everywhere. ECC is in the middle of finishing a new building when YAT found out they are short of funds so Beth and Julie arranged this raffle during Abaco Race Week. They told me yesterday they raised over $6,000! I'm still getting checks and think we may top $7,000!
This is a significant help for a 12-year old program that declares its independence by taking no government or church funds. It always has been wholly supported by donations yet shares so much of its materials, serives and resources with surrounding schools benefitting all of Abaco's children.
There is an ECC link on the Abaco Forum -- check it out -- and please give with your heart when they have fund raisings. These are never done lightly and much needed.
