Taxi rates

Budget time - how much for 2 adults and a toddler from the airport to Conch Inn and how much for 1/2 hour waiting (for beverage pick up etc)?

Last year i think we got a little overcharged, so i want to be prepared this year.

The February Abaconian lists the taxi rate as $10 + $3 for each person over 2. I do not know if they consider your toddler another person but technically, he/she is.......guess it depends on the driver. As for the stop, I have never discussed stop charges with them and I don't think that I have ever been charged. That being said, I always know what I'm looking for so it only takes a couple of minutes. Also, I try to tip them well. I've never been disappointed with a MH taxi but I guess that depends on your expectations.......Ken

Last time we did that trip, it was $12 for the two of us, plus $4 to stop at Price Right for 20 minutes. The cabbie was very accommodating about stopping.

When we were working on our boat in the yard this fall we had to use the taxis often and usually back and forth to the same place. Although the prices are supposed to be regulated we found we had different prices each time. Although most were pretty close in price one was way more expensive. Of course that was the first taxi we used and didn't have anything to compare it to. We finally started using Knowles taxi service and they were extremely pleasant and reasonable. I'm sure most of them are fair, we just found that it was easier to go with a known service.

Does anyone know if Rodney and Ernestine Bootle are still in the taxi business in Marsh Harbour? If so, we would like to request them this May when we arrive.

ONE time! Never again....missed my ferry to Guana, had 8 beers at Conch Inn, a dinner, breakfast and lunch the next day but hey, we solved most of Abaco's problems by simply running our mouths.......which, as Jerry S. so eloquently pointed out, was pure pleasure.........Ken:D
