Today we set up a new system which is intended to keep spammers from getting in and sending PMs to members. We've received five emails from established members who are now having trouble logging in. Please be aware that we are working on this, have a little patience, we are trying to protect you from spammers, it may take a little time to get this worked out.:o

If I log out, I'm in. But then, I'm out if I move around. It clears Cookies and I'm in, then I'm out............
I think I fixed my problem!!! I checked that I forgot my password, I was sent a new password, then I changed my password back to my original password and it seems to be working now.

Good morning, several of you who wrote to us yesterday about login troubles are now telling us you getting in without any problem. If any of you are still having troubles, or know of someone who is, please email us (admin@abacoforum.com).
remember, your password as well as your username are CaSe sensitive and well as space_sensitive. It's like the combination to a lock, close won't work. It has to be exact.
There's a huge attack happening on vBulletin forums worldwide right now and last night I got 30+ bogus registrations on 2cool. This new system has eliminated them being able to screw up our forums for now at least.
I have no problem logging in, but earlier after logging in and making a reply to a thread, I was blocked from returning to the site. I had to log out.
Happened again. This is the message that I get:
JJ, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

We are very sorry, and we're working on it.:o

We're starting to see a pattern: folks try several times and are blocked, and later in the day are able to get in. Also, if you can get to your User CP and open it, that seems to allow you to post. Try those things if you are having trouble logging on.
I am having trouble logging on and seem to be able to get on after trying 5 or 6 times. Just to let you know. Thanks for your help.
It sounds to me like y'all have a bad bookmark
Use this one
http://abacoforum.com/
or this one
http://abacoforum.com/forums/index.php
and reset it. You may also have a bad cookie(s) which may need to be deleted.

My bad Cookie is from the Forum. I clear the Cookies but then when I'm logged in, it boots me out when I try to Post.

Yup, did it again. I made the prior post, left the Forum, and when I retried, I was denied and had to log out to get back to here. Got to go.

It seems like the description line under their user names have changed too. "Registered User +"???
DrRalph

Yes, unless you have a "Custom user title" (like yours), everyone who has been a member for more than 7 days or has made at least ten posts will now be identified as "Registered User+" which indicates that they have unlimited PM priveleges.
Folks, we're working like crazy to fix this, but if you are still having troubles, let us know. And a thousand thanks to Mont for his efforts.
Testing to see if I am still having the problem.
sorry, but testing again with new password

Hi Ralph & Mont, thank you for being such hard working Admins! I'm having an "odd" problem which I've found a 'work around' for, but I thought I'd let you know to put it on a lower priority list. I can't seem to access the "home' page. When I link it from my favorites I get this notice:
"TurtleDreams, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

However if I click "New Posts" from there I get everything that's been posted since my last visit. I can Post fine; haven't tried a PM, so I'll copy this to you as a PM to see if that works
Thanks!

If any of y'all are still having troubles, delete your cookies and reset your bookmark here with a new one. If all that doesn't work, PM me with your password and I will work with you individually.
For what it's worth, the firestorm let up last night. I have never seen anything like the last 3 days on the internet in the 10 years I have been doing this.

Mont, every time someone sends you a PM, I get a notification by email. Can you change your associated email address, should I forward them to you, leave it alone?

Actually now when I try to switch the Home page once I've logged in on the Index Page, I get booted and can't log in again from that page. I assume you guys are working on this as we speak So I'll leave it alone till you think it might be fixed.
Thanks,

Mont, I am posting now as you see but I get the same message JJ does. Am so confused.
I can't help if you don't post up the URL's (exactly) as you are seeing them.
http://abacoforum.com/
http://abacoforum.com/forums/index.php
should be what you are using. Post up with your actual ones.

I am sorry, but I have asked several times for the URL you are using and that hasn't been posted. All the changes have been reverted and the forums are exactly like they were before.

If you will lose the www out of the home page URL bookmark, things will work a lot better for you. Having the www in one URL and not in the other is a leading cause of the exact problem you describe having. I hope that helps.
ps, Angie, same thing with you. Reset your bookmarks/favorites to what I posted above.
