Not exactly Abaco but the spirit should work there too. I'm the goofy guy in the back without the beard. We added a turn-around for the turtles, too! /sammie

I want one of those turquoise ukuleles.

Mahalo makes the cheaper "tourist" ukuleles and they are quite well constructed. BTW, the word means "good, hello, thanks very much, nice, beautiful, 'you have divine breath', 'I love you', and 'wanna shack up'?" in Hawaiian. One word, so many things to do! ;)

Very descriptive, no? Anyway, the, err, ukulele maker is fairly easy to find on the Internet. Divine breath, sheesh! :) /sammie

I was stationed in Hawaii from '76-'80. When we arrived at the airport, we saw the word "mahalo" on the trash cans, so we assumed it meant "garbage." Oops!

LOL, but tell Bunny ... and to all you gals out there ... Hula dancing is wonderful exercize and the mens love to, err, watch! I'm not talking the Hula Hoop but that old fashioned Hawaiian dancing with the hands, arms, bums, woo, it is all good! Each song tells a story. Extra points if you know what an "ami" is! :D Yowwzza! Tiki dancing is coming back into style, folks, get with it! Lawd, I've got to unearth some of those old Bob Hope records and Annie and stuff ... some slack guitar songs ... some "real" Hula music ... be sure to get some of those Tiki paper lanterns for your next Abaco party. /Sammie

Sammie, you're the Amazing Walter?
I keep threatening to take a hula class-Rick thinks I'm crazy-but it takes place at cocktail hour so I always decide not to go. Plus those coconut bras look uncomfortable! (And I don't think I could find one in my size-do they make mini coconuts???!!!)
Speaking of tikis, I have a pretty large collection. Not the big outdoor ones (although I have a few-I desperately want one from Mai Tiki in Cocoa Beach!) but the vintage tiki mugs. I love anything in the Hawaiian/Florida kitsch style. I wonder if there's any Bahamian kitsch available?
Also music by Denny Martin and the like. Plus fabulous IZ and Gabby Pahinui. I could go on and on, I'm pretty passionate about it! OK, I'll stop now...
Tina
PS Why did you start this thread in the rant section? Just curious.

Tina, awhile back, under the 1st section of this forum.... when Doc and Mont were discussing the pesky spammers, there was a remark made that our "cococut sizes" would improve just by visiting here! The rate I visit... I might have to worry about fitting on the Vintage plane and not poking the pilots in the back of the head! LOL....Is this board great, or what?
It's a fun obsession...
Also, I think Sammie is the guy next to Amazin' Walter, but I could be wrong.

That was great Sam! I'm still cracking up.
Since we're talking about the Texas coast... here's a shot for you from a couple summers ago down at Rockport...

OK, that's it, I'm going to be posting as much as possible! I seriously doubt Rick will have a problem with it! He's always coming in here and saying "Are you posting again?" Now he'll be like "Honey, don't you think you need to post about...?"
Forgive me for this, but do you reckon that's why Bunny and Mandy don't post much?

OK, along with Sammie, and Ken, you have now joined the ranks of knocking me off the chair, overcome with laughter. Mark is at the other end of the house convinced he is married to a loon. He doesn't understand the benefits of lurking on this forum. I am taking one for the team.

Be careful Patti, I wouldn't want you to hurt yourself! However, if you do fall, try to land on your chest. With all the posting you do, you should be fine!
Willy, nice stringer!

Bunny doesn't post much because she HATES the computer, and Mandy shows up whenever she gets the urge, I guess.

Mandy has urges? ... DOH, I'm not going there! Down boy, Ken. As an update, we think (?) we're getting better and are playing 6 dates with a fella who has a bazillion dollar video camera - I think the mobile tripod costs more than my rusty truck. Sandy Feet does most the singing, with Amazin' Walter in the pith hat and beard behind her. It's been fun. We're written some good songs too, although the people at Saint Andrew's Church were very understanding when we played "Whisky, cigarettes, and wild women" two weeks ago. At least it was on a Saturday and we hadn't gottin into the Wanna-Wanna rum thang yet.
Our Hawaiin ukulele expert came down from the hills today so we're working up some real Tiki music, although the chords are much harder, like 1940's jazz. I mean, playing "Smoke on the Water" or a three-chord boogie was easy! :)
If you're interested, our next shoot will have the men in grass skirts, the women dancing the Hula, and, there could be some fun to be had. And if you want to know what a Wanna-Wanna is, WELL DON'T CHANGE THAT DIAL, STAY TUNED RIGHT HERE. /sammie
P.S. Willy thanks for the feesh. That big trout looked like fun!

Why is this board such a magnet for perverts??? Ugghhh
Hey Mandy, have you ever like, danced for a living?

Honest, my purpose was not to engage in perverted stuff. If you want to see how hard I have to work to keep REAL pervs off a forum board, try this one:
http://p207.ezboard.com/fsouthpadreisland25762frm4
Right now there are three spam and two perv messages but you get the picture about how hard my volunteer moderator job is. The "clothing optional beach" forum was a great idea a long time ago, and I'm fixing to pull the plug on it very soon because of some very strange "lurkers."
Please let's all be sensitive to how people might read our stuff, anywhere. So to all us rowdy guys - you know who we/us/them are - let's take the SOB Oath (care to join us ladies?):
Have Fun,
Help Others Have Fun, and
Un-Litter!!!!

Still giggling on this end.
After watching the video, can't shake the ZZ Top/Mr. Rogers fusion image.
Let's make some lyrics (learned this from Willy, nice stringer BTW bro!)
It's a beautifull .....................

Hopefully Tina is inspired to post. :o

LOL, that old kind of BBS forum was text only, like the old days. EZ-board. It has beeen hacked with pictures, BTW. In theory, it is impossible to upload any. For the uninitiated, please let me explain some acronyms:
BAH - simply means "bah"
BATELCO - simply means "bah"
BTW - by the way...
COB - clothing optional beach
GYBDH - usually said by the wife, "Get your butt down here!"
HULA - any music as long as the girls dance suggestively
LOL - a chuckle, laugh, or guffaw unless the joke was really dumb
LUAU - Nippers
MOW - actually a frick-it bird, not a lawnmower or a politician
NIMBY PWUFF BANANAS - fortunately, the bartender knows what you like
SOB - son of the beach, a term of endearment, even to most the gals
TIKI - the first man, kinda Neandethal or Hawaiian-looking cabana boy
WAFI - wind assisted freaking idiot
Feel free to add to the list ...
