Hi Folks,

I am starting to get some estimates on how many lots have been sold to date at Baker's Bay. Regardless, as I understand it, when you visit the Bakers Bay website, you can see a map of properties that are no longer available, suggesting that about 70 lots have been sold. But as I understand it, this hasn't updated, at least not significantly, in months, and that those were reserved properties, not sold properties, and many of those reserved properties may have been reserved since as early as 2004 or 2005.

If that is the case, the actual number of lots sold is lower than what is on the website. 3 lots are under construction now. So we know that at least 3 lots have sold.

Anybody have an estimate of the total number of lots sold to date?

Hi Notes,

Well, you and a lot of other folks won't like what I'm about to say, but that's OK.

Unless you are interested in investing in the project (as a homeowner or investor), how could such a number possibly matter?

Let's say the number is 10 or 30 or 70. So what? What should anyone -- contractors, workers, suppliers et al -- do (and PLEASE don't say plan ahead for obvious reasons)?

So I'm curious: why do you want to know and for what useful purpose? It's been built.

Looking forward to your answer.

Cheers -- Al

Al - I think just about everybody in the Abacos is interested in the number of lots sold. In fact, its something that is actively being talked about all over the Abacos. For one, if a lot of lots are being sold, that means more immediate employment for local Bahamians, right? And employment for local construction workers is very important right now. So, I am not sure that your question is relevant or meaningful.

Walk through bars and restaurants and listen in - people are talking about this and they are curious. And they have a right to be curious, and to ask the question. It is a very healthy question to ask, and I don't see any reason why we should discourage the question.

How many lots have been sold at Baker's Bay? Anybody know?

Thanks for the quick response Note.

Well, I live here and sure folks might be curious but the point is what will any local entity that is not currently connected to the project - company or individual - do/change based on an estimated number? Nothing. And poor guesses can do no good for better or worse. (And no, more lot sales do NOT mean more immediate job opportunities at large).

The people who don't know are talking; the ones who do aren't.

My greatest concern is that somehow a guesstimate will result and more destructive sentiments will rise again.

BTW, I really admire and appreciate your site. Thanks for that.

Cheers -- Al
