According to the posted plan, they are only supposed to widen the road along the beach, not clear the land all the way across the dunes.

I gather that's the subdivision for the GTC locals I had heard about, but don't know exactly where it is. Maybe between the area of Coco Bay and the hard road by Bita Bay?

The location is crown property at and around the dump. The plans show the playground on top of the dump (green area at lower center). I'm sure that's not a great idea, either. Also concerned about effects to the mangrove swamp. While it's a great idea to give property for the locals to buy affordably, the location is an environmental disaster waiting to happen.

Are you there now and, if so, what do the locals have to say?

No, not there now but I'll be there over Thanksgiving. I got these pictures from a local.

What do the locals think of this? And who's doing the work or at least overseeing it?
With the land already so low and swampy, it's madness! That's taking away what little protection that area has. I would think any building in that area would need to be stilted to begin with and now there will be no protection against any kind of storm surge.
