Hey Gecko, I loved your site and recipes!
May I add one thing for the old-fashioned types like me. Often we'll get an ice water with lemon, a beer, and a shot of something real special. Some chips or nuts is a wonderful compliment. That can last up to an hour. The beer goes flat so that goes first. But at shot of booze, it lasts for a loooonng time.
Now your got the name "Tequila" in your monniker but from what I have learned, most tequilas available in the US are horrible, even that "Cabo Wabo" junk marketed under Sammy Hagar's name (US $45 in Texas). Patron is maybe average. A good shot of tequila is rather like a single malt imported scotch, smooth as silk.
Same for rum, although I haven't penetrated all the various kinds other than to say Mount Gay ("monkey") is OK, nothing Earth-shattering. I had some "anejo" of some kind which was good but that is just Spanish meaning aged, which would apply to any booze - I forget the label but it was not dark rum. I'm not a snob because I drink industrial beer like Kalik or Tecate or Heinekin but with booze, I have to go top shelf.
So as a matter of personal preference, I like my booze naked, no salt, lime, ice, fruit, juice, or perfumed stuff. On a boat, you break out the plastic cups and pour a quarter inch of heaven into a cup and make it last as long as you can. You can tell the boozers and kids because they throw it straight down the hatch in one gulp.
That's OK, I judge not, other than it sure is fun to sip the nectar of the gods, very slowly and respectfully. A beer, a water, and a good one; that's my perfect recipe.

Sip Slowly, enjoy fully..........same goes for a good Irish Whiskey.

... and when in the Abacos, the Rum Thang rocks! Don't get me wrong ... Mom has been on what I call the "fresh squozzed" kick lately. Well if it was sqeezed, squozzed is ... oops, after 12:00 ... must be time for a cool one. :)
For drinking straight I go with "Cruzan Single Barrel Estate Rum" smooth as silk.
In a mixed drink - most in The Abacos drink Bacardi Anejo.
