Glad to have you Mr. or Ms. Gator... I like to think that we are a fun but enlightened group!;)
We carry on a bit, help out a bit, learn a lot about our favorite place to chill.
Have fun!

:p Thanks everybody, heard any good rumors lately? :p

Just kidding!!! I have no axe to grind, just want to hear both sides of a story. Enough of that.

Im on a first-week-of-June count-down, 6th Abaco trip, taking the kids for the first time, 7, 5 and 3 year old boys. And yes we are nuts. Another couple w/kids going with us. Staying on the beach at Treasure.

...I'll be at The Tipsey ordering rum thangs as fast as they can make 'em after the kids are put to bed...:D Our friends are bring her parents, first timers. Dont you just love to see folks experience it for the first time. Its great.

Hah, last I heard DrRalph was on the run with ACME Atomic Powered Reef Shoes because ... naw everything is calm here Gator. Let's not dwell on the past but on the present and future ... think your oldest boy might be a fisherman? /sammie

Gator, I can't imagine how much fun your boys are going to have! We too have invited a 'newbie' (funny to say that since we are relative newbies also!) couple to join us and I am so excited to see their faces when they finally get there. Hopefully they will love it as we do.

Glad you are here on the Forum!

SFA,

Yes my oldest likes to fish in ponds, thats the best we can do here in Texas. I was thinking of bringing light tackle so they could diddle around over at the marina too.

Yo! gator man, ncie to have yeah! I have a rumor, and it is has been confirmed, so I guess its not really a rumor anymore, but, its that the Blest Nest on the N end of Elbow has been taken off the market as a rental! Now this is why I start my planning so **** early! We stayed here on our Honeymoon in 2003 and was definatly planning on going back to it in 2010..Man this has not made my day.....

Henz:
You might consider taking a look at Leeside. Also North end of Elbow, right on the beach but with a FAR more agreeable pricetag. eblowcayproperties is where I found it.

6.5 months to go - woo hoo!

We have been here at Orchid Bay Marina on Guana for 3 months and can't convince ourselves to leave. They don't advertise but they have two gorgeous cottages and two apartments right on the sea of Abaco. During the week it is virtually deserted and on the weekends it gets lively. It's the best of both worlds. Groceries and restaurants all within walking distance. So Henz, you might check out orchidbay.com. Remember, down here published prices can usually be negotiated depending on the season. Also spent about 6 months on the boat in Hopetown during hurricane season a couple of years ago and you can't beat it either, although it can be hard to find a place to eat in town from July-Oct. except for the Lodge. Sea Spray and Abaco Inn in White Sound remained open the whole time.

Henz - I am familiar with both Blest Nest and Leeside. Leeside is a very acceptable little house which opens right onto a Sea of Abaco beach. It was upgraded some by the owner last year. She had lots of yard work done, recovered cushions in the living room, that kind of small but significant stuff, as I remember. Only drawback to Leeside is that the owner is usually in residence until early May at least, so if you are looking at a late winter/early spring trip, the house might not be available. I knew Blest Nest was for sale but hadn't heard whether or not it had sold yet or if the new owner was going to continue to rent. Tough luck on that one. Sorry

Any other info you might have on Leeside would be appreciated. Feel free to PM if you prefer. I'll be there for a week in early November. Thx!
