Pat, not all of us have closely followed the legal wranglings SGCR has been involved in, and I'm still not sure what a "privy counsel" is. Could you give us a brief summary of what you are celebrating, and what the implications are? thanks!!!

Not a bathroom.
Since Bahamas is part of English law heritage, they still have a final court of appeal in England known as the Privy Council. Somewhat like our Supreme Court in US at least in that it is final court.
Bahamas appellate court said no injunction while waiting for trial court in Freeport to rule. DLC then started back up. SGCR Appeal to Privy Council who reinstated ruling that there be no undertaking until appeal is heard.
Appeal not heard yet, just appeal filed and no undertaking by DLC until appeal heard.
MEANWHILE--while all that appellate manoveuring is going on, both sides waiting for judge to rule from minitrial they had in FEB. Ruling expected long before now. Rumor, unsubstaniated is that it will be in August.
(I think same rumor for every other month since Feb).
Fred Smith is fighting a good strategic fight to tie things up.
While "independence" of Bahamian judiciary is disputed, the Privy Council is the real deal and they will eventually probably rule on this, about 12- 24 months from now.

That's my short version of what I can glean as a 30+ year trial and appellate lawyer on the outside looking in. From a layman's standpoint, Troy A. seems to have best handle along on this with Pat. From lawyer standpoint, Fred or one of his associates would be the final authority.

For those who would be interested in learning what the Privy Council is, please go and check this web site http://www.privy-council.org.uk/output/page5.asp

We do have an update on www.saveguanacayreef.com (http://www.saveguanacayreef.com) There are two news articles from the Tribune and the Nassau Guardian. Our lawyer has not received the transcript from the PC as of yet but when he does, we will release anything he sends us on the SGCR web site.

Can you guys IMAGINE a moderator on the other board actually ASKING for info on this subject?? HOOOO-RAYYY for Ralph. No one has gotten crazy, mad, ornery, or belligerent. It's not politics, it's Abaco NEWS. Thank you sooo much for allowing us information about the goings-on in Abaco Ralph. Your tolerance will be rewarded........Ken

Well, this is "news," and we here at the Forum think that it's worthwhile.

Pat, it may be helpful if you post the actual URL you are referencing as opposed to just sending everyone to SGCR. I go over there on occasion to try to find whatever it is you and the other SGCR people or talking about, and it can be tricky to find it.

Sometimes on the other board, all we could post was like, "Go to www.saveguana (http://www.saveguana)******** for updates" or we would mention something new happening and just refer everyone to the web site. BUT I am guilty of slipping a few little comments on the board but the thread got closed. I understand why, in a way. But it is so hard for my Bahamian husband to understand why the board is called a " Abaco Community" board but nothing could be discussed about "the" fight over here. He still gets angry and so do many locals. I try to explain that we have to use our board but he says more people will read it on the Abaco Board than will go look for our site that might be hidden in a side bar somewhere. He knows that some people don't agree with SGCR and probably don't want to read what we have to say but his answer is, "they don't have to read it. They can just skip those post!" God, you gotta love that man of mine! :D
