Mini trip report/pix- Guana last week

We had a wonderful time on our 10 day stay on Guana. It stayed breezy for the first 6-7 days, but with that came cool nights with no a/c necessary, no bugs, and beautiful temperatures.

Snorkeled on sea and ocean side, whichever was flat that day, enjoyed food at all the local haunts. One neat "treat" this trip, Nipper's served up complimentary appetizers one night, as did Docksiders another night.
A Happy Hour kind of thing. Very nice.

Grabber's menu has enlarged, and they have spiffed the place up since we were there last. Art Cafe still offers up good stuff and of course the bahama bread. Orchid Bay offered an awesome lobster BLT for lunch.
It's all good!

Got alot of work done on the house, saw old friends, met new ones.
Nice talking to BellaVista and hope to see you guys soon. Also, Jerry and Peach, Flying Dogs, Pat and Sid, Johnny, Sea Jewel, and all the other special folks over there.

We were there for the 24 hour land crab "invasion". they were all over the roads everywhere, and then the next day, they were gone.

Guana and all of the Abacos and the people continue to enchant us and we look forward to getting back over there!

Pictures:
First set of pix is us waiting at Curly Tails at the Conch Inn in Marsh, for the ferry to Guana, and boarding the ferry. The ferry "Notice" goes into detail about the vouchers.

More pix to come.

Great pix! Miss you guys! That picture of Mark on the ferry looks like he's got his hand already "cupped" for a Kalik!

We miss you guys too! Hoping to cross paths over there again soon. We owe you a tour. We head back on 7/4, and then maybe labor day, and T-giving and Xmas. let us know.

Great attention to detail on that "cupped" hand!

Thanks for the "lift" and questions

Current countdown at 64! What are the hours at the Orchid Bay Restaurant? Re: Snorkeling oceanside. We have encountered several schools of huge blue parrots oceanside usually in the area offshore of Surfside/Blue Surf Cottage /ShorecrestII. These are the largest I've encountered anywhere Florida/caribean waters. Has anyone else noticed these?

orchid Bay

I believe Orchid Bay is closed on Monday, and the rest of the week they are open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. especially during the busy season. I would double check with them when you get there.

We have also seen large schools of parrotfish, and also large schools of Bermuda chubs, and a resident turtle out by our place.
When the ocean side is flat, it's great to get out on the reef and snorkel. the water is so clear, and the underwater world is rich with life.

Where abouts on Guana is South Pause? Just wondering if we passed it during our numerous trips to the Settlement. Looks like you had a good time, and what a view!

Abakimmy,
I believe that is officially called the "Kung Fu Grip" made famous by GI Joe but utilized by all of us that are certified in Basic Kalik Life Support (for mouth-to-mouth, u gotta take a whole extra course to get get certified in transfusions and CPR). Remember, 'sip, breath, 2,3,4, 5' (repeat as needed...!) Personally I recommend hyper oxygenation utilized the above forumale (sp?) repeatedly.

Norvell, it was nice to finally meet you and Mark as well
I hope that your conch shells worked out ok.
Don't panic folks these were shells from conch that had been harvested quite some time ago by a local.

Thanks Jerry!

Thanks for helping me with the shells. We lined them up on the steps leading to our deck and they look really nice. They are a bit "careworn" and flawed, but I like that. Should have taken a picture.

Anyway, here's a picture of Mr. Jerry S. in his very snazzy golf cart.
