Trip prep
Thirteen hours 'til departure, three bags and one effing computer packed, and we're at 118 lbs, and still have the cooler to go. Sheesh

**** I can't read! I could have sworn I read that you guys were going over on SATURDAY and I spend ALL DAY looking at the radar to make sure you got there! Now I got to do it all over again tomorrow! For what it's worth though, it looks like the weather is better tomorrow (SUNDAY) than it was today! So hopefully you will have no bumps.
We got all the thunderstorms up here on the Outer Banks right now, along with a half million unhappy tourist.

Hope the flight went OK - a big low 95L is forming and the satellite showed some really cold cloud tops migrating from FLL last night to Guana this morning. Maybe Doc will jump online with his bleeping notebook computer?

Seaspray Resaort, 6:30 PM
At 6:30 AM we arrived at the Vintage terminal in Daytona, final weight 154 lbs, 54 over our allotted weight, charge $40.70. Our malaise was short-lived, because the party of five behind us came in at 427! We departed on-time at 7:45 and headed southeast under sunny skies.
The good weather slowly deteriorated, and by 15 minutes from our scheduled arrival in Treasure Cay we were surrounded by squalls. Our pilots bobbed and weaved and got us through the mess, but our good fortune ebbed as we descended into TC: just as the plane flared, we encountered a downdraft and landed hard, really HARD. All was well for about 15 seconds, then the plane started to shake violently as if a tire had blown. Our guys skillfully kept us under control and slowed the plane such that we could taxi. But just as we turned for the terminal apron, the plane shook violently again, this time as if we were going to fall apart. Again, our guys handled it well, and we arrived at the terminal safely, albeit in a driving rain. They off-loaded our baggage while we all inspected the tires, which appeared to be OK. The guys braved the squall to crawl under the plane, and found that the port gear strut had failed, and would require some new parts. After very quickly clearing Customs, they put us on a plane that was originally bound for Lauderdale and took us to Marsh Harbour, where we endured another nailbiter landing in a driving rain cum 40-knot crosswind. Our guys did great, getting us down with no trouble, right at 10:30, as the Hope Town ferry we had hoped to catch pulled away. [SIZE=3][FONT=Comic Sans MS]I pulled the Dodge out of our wet boat bag, looked up the number for Island Marine, and asked if they could pick us up in Marsh, which they very graciously agreed to do. We hailed a cab, went to Price Right, bought $87 in groceries, loaded in an even heavier rain, and made it to the

You're pretty lucky to get out, Doc. About 80% of the State of Florida now shows solid red cloud tops on the satellite (tho' ground radar less so). Hats off to the Vintage pilots; that must have been hairy. Get an early start before the boomers build? Have fun,

We had similar flight experience w/ Vintage in February. No major malfunctions thank goodness, but the wind the weekend we were there was terrible. 50 mph gusts and a constant 20-25. First time I had to make the trip from Marsh to Treasure on my way home and what a ride! I was medicated, drunk and still scared ********
Hope you enjoy your time there.

Seaspray, 7 PM
[FONT=Comic Sans MS][SIZE=3]There are days that can be magic if you have the insight and patience to take what Mother Nature gives you. We loaded the boat and ran to Hope Town, tying up just as a squall came at us from the SW. We sat in our foul weather gear for 20 minutes until the storm passed, then hopped up to Harbourview Grocery and Lighthouse Liquors where we picked up some essentials. We left Hope Town and ran south through Lubber

Pat & Norvell, we're heading for Guana, should be there around noon or so, we'll call you on the VHF. We want to visit Grabbers, Nippers, and we'll hit the fig tree.

No, I'm sorry Norvell but we have been running all over the place lately. We had a spitty rain earlier and cloudy skies. Its hot, hot, hot!! Humidity is off the scale. I hung out some sheets early this morning and they are still not dry. Of course, the weather forecast is for the usual afternoon summer showers.

Love the pics, Doc! Speaking of pics, that boat from Island Marine you're piloting, how long is she? I'm guessing she's around 25-26 feet, no?
Have a blast, and keep posting those pics for those of us still stateside.
