Susan Was 50 Trip Report Part 2
Prior to our last day with Lincoln we spent the entire week boating, fishing, island hopping etc. We were on or in the water virtually all day every day. We had 7 straight days of flat seas and no rain! I know its been a windy and stormy season and we were blessed with Chamber of Commerce weather and we took advantage of it. Often two fishing trips a day, capped off with an afternoon snorkle. The late afternoon light seems to light up the reef and the water was super clear since it was so calm. We got several snorkle newbies on the outer reef too.
Our gang rented three boats from REEF rentals, and our friends Clifford & Rene were awesome with their boat the Cliffhanger- they took day trips to Treasure, Bakers Bay and Manjack- everday. Don Horton had a nice boat from Darren at Loggerhead so we had quite the flotilla, and I'm sure we entertained the island on the VHF. Our first fishing morning was sort of a shakedown and of course I forgot the bait. Randy suggested I radio Susan and ask if she had the bait ready yet? she did not play along and so it went... Lincoln boats by moments later and holds up his knife asking if we GOT BAIT? Never enough bait- unless you are Don Horton fly fisher extraordinaire. Fishing report coming next. Brad PS- I used my camera a lot less this trip as Susan and I were in GO GO to Abaco mode! I am waiting on pics from our friends who are great shutterbugs- stand by. |

Speaking of fishing, Tina....I was able to buy wahoo here from our local supermarket. Bought all they had left. It was such a treat. We had such a hard time buying it in TC....only got it at Nippers. I think I overcooked it a bit as it was dry and not usually like that when I have cooked it before. I was a little nervous as it came from Equador....I don't like to buy fish out of the states. But it still was a real treat. Wanted to wash it but did not. I was wondering about soaking it in a pot with water and salt like I do chicken?????
