Trip Report - The Preamble

Our wedding was a smash hit, and everyone agreed that it was the best family wedding of the past decade. I would have been just a little happier if I hadn't taken a faceplant while bodysurfing on the day of the wedding . Ended up with a great big scrape on my forehead for the wedding. Thought my new wife was going to kill me. But as it turned out, she didn't even notice it until the reception.

We held our ceremony in the Sunrise Beach Club adjacent to the Riu Resort where we all stayed. Matthew Sweeting conducted our wedding ceremony. He made sure we were at ease and in tune with the rhythm of the day. In all, nearly 30 members of our family and friends made the trip. The Riu lost out on our ceremony and reception since their wedding coordinator is a moron (and this is the most gentle way I can put that - No love lost between myself and that woman). Fortunately for us, we were able to hook up with Coretta Owen and could not have been more pleased. She took care of everything from the ceremony to the reception and everything in between. Every cost was anticipated, and she prepared us for everything. Her company name is Creativiti, and she's Nassau-based. Her attention to detail and ability to communicate well was such an asset, I can't possibly say enough good things about her.

The reception was at Luciano's of Chicago in Nassau, and those folks know how to throw a party. All of the food was delicious and the dinner was perfectly timed. There was another wedding that ran 45 minutes over their allotted time, so we had to pay everyone we had hired for another hour in order to keep the rhythm the way we wanted it. It was nearly a thousand dollar pain in the neck, but it was worth it. Someone joked that the other bridal party should pay for our extra costs, but we just forked over the cash and told the band to play on! To prove that they had a sense of humor, the first song the band played after the extension was "I wanna go home". Good times

The wedding was a great time, but the honeymoon was the best part!! The Baroness and I were having a great time on Paradise Island, and I started noticing bigger surf and steadier winds of increasing strength. By the time I finally broke down and found a TV with a weather report, Noel was already formed and on the way. Little we could do but cross the fingers and hope for the best in Hope Town!

Thanks so much for sharing your important day with all of us! Sounds like you will have so many wonderful memories to share for years to come. Even a Tropical Storm to liven things up! Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip.

You got it! Nothing like a little tropical breeze for a honeymoon! I'll be posting the day by day reports and then as many of the 1,000+ pics I took as the you folks can stand. Got some pics of a sunset over Lubbers from Tahiti Beach that came out well.

Congratulations on the nups! We went on our honeymoon and it rained 8 inches - but this summer it will be 25 years for us and we're still happy.

I raise a "Dark and Stormy" to ya. That's rum and ginger beer, goes together like peas in a pod.

The Dark & Stormy sounds like the beginnings of a Rum Soaked Mama. Ginger ale, Bacardi Anejo, Pineapple soda and OJ. A few of those and you'll be asking "Storm? What storm?"

Actually, what we're doing now is putting a link to the actual report on the "Trip Reports Page;" once you get done, I'll put that up. A lot easier to do, and you get to see others' commentary.
