Busy day: got up at 4, left the house at 5:30, breakfast at MickeyD's drivethrough, Daytona airport at 6 or so, took off at 7:30. Nice landing at MHH by our VPJ crew, cab to Price-Rite and A&K, then to the "old ferry dock" where the good folks from Island Marine picked us up in our Albury 20. Checked her out at their HQ on Parrot Cay, ran to Seaspray, checked in, unloaded, unpacked, ate some conch, then headed out to play...in the rain
.But, it didn't last long, and we had a nice afternoon. Pictures below: 1) The first squall, near Channel Cay 2) Bunny gets a little wet 3) The weather starts to clear, time to hunt for treasures 4) Treasures! 5) A big sea biscuit 6) A stingray drifts by 7) A nice starfish-he went back in the drink 8) The great banner Kan Parrot made us on our cottage at Seaspray 9) The Forum nerve center at Seaspray 10) My office Tomorrow, Nipper's at noon with Pat, Patti, and Parrott .

Thanks Dr. Ralph. Your pictures just brightened up my evening. I have to say, that water is the most beautiful shade of blue I have ever seen!
Keep the posts coming when you can so that we can all live vicariously

Wi-fi is good, maybe 3/4 speed of what I'm used to. Didn't stop at Cracker's yet. Weather is almost cool, I don't think the temp today got much higher than 80. Water temp on Tilloo Bank was 77, 81 at Tahiti Beach. We got a little sunburn, nothing that requires Rx, but we do have a base tan.

Glad to see you made it Ralph and Bunny! We could hear Rock Steady call you on the VHF tonight but we couldn't hear your response. See you tomorrow! Called the bar but you and Bunny had already left for the night!

Tuesday morning
It's a pleasant morning here at Seaspray, maybe 75 degrees, light cloud cover, light SW breeze. Patti gave us our choice of two weather reports this morning: light variable winds with passing sprinkles, or a 20-kt blow
. We'll take choice A, please.Last night we spent a half-hour at the bar (we were the only customers). While we sitting there Rock Steady called us on the VHF, he'll be by tomorrow afternoon. As noted, the Guana contingent heard us, they got the relay about today's lunch at Nippers. I slept like a dead man until 3:30 when I woke up with megabladder and no night light. I was out on the porch getting ready to water a hibiscus plant when I realized where I was (wasn't?), and thankfully made it to the loo. We are very impressed at Abaco's personality in early May vs. July when we usually visit. There is no debilitating heat, remarkably fewer people, just a calmer atmosphere. Those pictures we shot yesterday were at Tilloo Bank, and we could have been butt-naked, didn't see a soul for most of the afternoon. And yes, Bunny is a goddess in that bikini; she brought seven of them, one for each day. Did I mention we were 64# overweight? So we're off to Guana, with this thought: "No man is an Island, Jack." Dr. Ralph, per your e-mail which states: "We are very impressed at Abaco's personality in early May vs. July when we usually visit. There is no debilitating heat, remarkably fewer people, just a calmer atmosphere."
Totally agree with you there! Although we like the warmer water in July, our favorite time is definitely spring and even fall. July is crowded and very very hot. Post some more fun pics for us! We will be over there on 5/16 for nice long stay and cannot wait! |

Thanks for the ongoing reports & photos. It makes the 2 weeks we have left before we leave a little tougher, but certainly motivates us to try to make it down when everyone comes next year. Make sure to post fish photos when everyone comes in to whet our appetite. Bunny photos work too --

Tuesday PM
Had a nice run to Guana in mostly light winds, kicked up out of the SW 5 minutes from the harbour.
Great lunch with PatW& Sydney, PattiP & Mark, and Flying Dogs David at nippers. Ran back to Tahiti Beach for an hour, then home to Seaspray and a round with Rock Steady. Quick shower, then down to the restaurant for some conch. Photos: 1) Then Forum banner at Nippers 2) The bouncing ball rests in front of Nippers, at least today 3) Bunny, PatW, and PattiP at Nippers 4) PatW, Sydney, and David 5) PattiP and some derelict 6) PattiP, Bunny, Johnny Roberts, and PatW 7) Bunny's perch on the bow 8) Bunny on our Albury 20 at Tahiti Beach

Nothing beats Cracker P's for us! Even at lunch we never get out of there with less than $100.00. Of course I could where a different Cracker P's t-shirt for everyday of the week.

Wednesday
We woke up (at 9) to a beautiful Abaco morning: very bright sun, maybe 80 degrees, east wind maybe 10-12 kts, gentle 3-foot roll on the ocean, and the Sea of Abaco looks very inviting. Last night we ate seafood pizza at Seapray's bar--that stuff is awesome--then re-heated it for breakfast. Thanks to Island Bill for the round, and to Sinderella for a very interesting story.
We're finishing our morning duties, then it's off to play until 4 when we host to Forumpalooza Meet n' Greet at Seaspray.

I'm in Harbour Island, Eluthera... weather looks great for a jump to the Abacos tomorrow. Assuming no mechanical breakdowns, weather cooperates, etc. I should be in Little Harbour Thursday night and at Seaspray for the Forumplaooza final on Friday evening.
Look forward to seeing you all! |

Late Wednesday; what a day!
We had a gorgeous run south from Lubber's to North Pelican Cay. We anchored up in the soft sand on the north side of the island. I walked around to the south side and bumped into Tina and Rick Goose, they had just tied up. We had a beautiful couple of hours, than ran up to Tahiti Beach for a few moments.
Pulled up the hook, ran into Seaspray, and found about 22 Forum members sitting on the porch at our cottage, waiting to party. The group included Abakimmy and Rod, who had run 30 nm down from GTC, and Ken Parrott and company who made the run from Guana. We had a great time socializing, the group finally broke up around 8. We cooked dinner, it's about 10 right now, and I'm trying to tuck this report away so we can get down for a little sleep; we have to chase the man in the blue suit tomorrow. Photos: 1) Running south from Lubber's 2) Bunny, Tina, & Rick at N. Pelican 3) DrRalph & Bunny at N. Pelican 4) DrRalph, Rick, and Tina 5) Group at N. Pelican 6) DrRalph, Rick, & Tina at Tahiti Beach 7) Rod, Joe, & Mark at Seaspray
