Guana Cay trip report
Just thought you might like some pics to tide you over during your trip countdowns. We visited Great Guana Cay from 3/18 to 3/31.We flew from Logan Airport on St. Patricks day after a canceled flight, missed flight, stand by,run to flight in Atlanta,no luggage in West Palm and stand by the next day to Abaco. After a lot of prayer we made it with our luggage to Marsh Harbor. After that it was all worth it!The weather was mid 70's,ocean too rough to swim, and winds 25 to 45 mph.The fisherman could not go out and we were told it had been like that for almost a month. The kite surfers enjoyed themselves but no one else could get out to the reef.We snorkeled around Dive Guana and still saw a great variety of fish, rays, sea cucumbers, basket fish and the like.We had a great time and made new friends from the forum, and met up with some old friends.Barefoot Man was a crazy time as always,Steel Daddy was good a Grabbers. The food everywhere was awesome, can't go wrong wherever you go out to.After Barefoot left, the island quieted down and it was very relaxing. We threw a cocktail party and I played some guitar for the guests. It over all it was a wonderful time!I will post more pics this week but here are some starters.First pics are of course familiar to most
Curly Tails Conch Inn Dock First decent sunset Boats In Fisher Bay starting to arrive for Barefoot Looking torward Dolphin Beach Estates

It's a Fender Squire or mini Sammie. They only had 1 guitar shop on Abaco and they only stocked 6 minis so I bought one to leave down there.Still got some great sound out of it.I named him Little Junior!

I AM lovin' this! Thanks Sandalman! Is Guana Seaside still accessible? I heard that it was reserved for workers who are involved in the big mess.
Great pictures! I know I have asked this before, but where is Grabbers? Your pictures are so bright and clear. Obviously no alchohol consumption.... |

DaGoose,I did not get to any other Cays, but other than ferry or freight not a lot of boats on the water.Patti,Guana Seaside is for the workers,we had walked the beach looking for shells as far as the concrete dock.Grabbers is on the left after you get off the town ferry dock.As far as alchohol consumption-I plead the 5th.The camera is a 7.1 Kodak Easyshare digital. It takes great pics-I love it.

Oh yeah, Sandalman! Those are the blue umbrellas marking the beach where ddb and I will be watching the sunset in about 48 hours, after our luncheon board meeting at Nippers.
An 8am flight Friday morning, 10:30 ferry to GGC, and conch lunch at Nippers. I can hardly contain myself! It's hours, not days!!!!! |

Sandalman, those last photos are quintescential Abaco! My BP rate just went down 20 points. I can't believe that we will be there in 24 days!
I think it's the light and the color of Abaco that is so incredible and makes you come back for more. Well, that and the great people too! Thanks for posting... Tina |

Keep goin' Sandalman!
Sandalman, you are the best! I can get through the last 20 days now thanks to you! I am gonna love spending time at Grabbers! That beach and hammock area are just what the doctor ordered! Tina, if you and Rick make it to Guana in between fishing, sounds like that is the place to meet prior to Nippers!
